Almost all of Nice's good matcha is in Vieux-Nice, the Old Town, within a few streets of each other. The standout is Ichigo Ichie, a matcha house on Rue Centrale that opened in 2025 and works only with ceremonial-grade matcha. Around it, specialty coffee shops and brunch cafés have added matcha to their menus, some very well. That makes Nice easy to explore on foot: you can walk between all five places below in about fifteen minutes. All five are verified open as of September 2026.
Nice's dedicated matcha house, opened in 2025 in the heart of the Old Town and working exclusively with ceremonial-grade matcha. The menu is wide: matcha lattes, and flavoured versions with mango, strawberry, taro, yuzu and passion fruit, and fresh orange juice. The matcha egg cream, which tastes a little like crème brûlée, is the drink people talk about. There is matcha ice cream and matcha panna cotta too, and the shop sells matcha accessories. The room is calm and refined, and drinks are around €7.80.
A specialty coffee shop tucked into an alley in the Old Town, founded by Emmanuel Buschiazzo, and one of the most respected coffee addresses on the Côte d'Azur. The coffees rotate and are sourced from some of the highest-rated producers, and the matcha gets the same care. The matcha latte is a menu favourite, and the mango matcha, at around €8, is well balanced. Pastries, cookies and cakes are there for something sweet. Open seven days.
A café with a duck-blue front on Rue Droite where the matcha latte is the house specialty, as the name suggests. Inside there are large shared tables, plants and a relaxed atmosphere, and plant milks (almond, oat, soy and coconut) come at no extra charge, which is not always the case in Nice. The espresso is roasted by a local artisan, and weekend brunch is popular enough that reservations are recommended. A good all-round choice for a matcha latte in a comfortable room.
An Asian fusion café in the Old Town serving brunch, sushi, bubble tea and coffee, with a matcha menu that leans creative. The matcha cloud coco, around €7.50, is the one to order: light and refreshing, and a good first matcha for anyone new to it. It is less of a purist address than Ichigo Ichie, but it is a fun stop, and the food menu makes it easy to stay for lunch. Ōmura has a second location elsewhere in Nice.
A café behind the Préfecture, next to the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate, known for a matcha latte with a thick, creamy foam that balances the matcha and milk well. Marinette serves breakfast, lunch and an afternoon goûter with pancakes, chouquettes and warm cookies. There is a second, smaller location on the Cours Saleya, open Wednesday to Sunday mornings, which is handy if you are visiting the market.
