Jersey Digs describes a tearoom format where every matcha drink is hand-whisked to order with ceremonial-grade matcha from Japan, plus teapot sets of hojicha, genmaicha and sencha. Food includes baked goods, onigiri and shokupan sandos.
Bober Tea shares the ground floor of The Starling on Monitor Street with rice-flour donut shop Mochi Dough, its first East Coast location according to Jersey Digs. The combined shop held its grand opening in March 2026. Jersey Digs reports the signature Okumidori Matcha uses ceremonial-grade matcha and Straus Family Creamery organic milk. Reviews elsewhere are mixed, so it suits a matcha and donut stop more than a purist tasting.
Run by Almost Home in the lobby of the Journal Squared towers, this café is steps from the Journal Square PATH. Jersey Digs and re-nj report it added an after-hours food and drink menu in 2026, served Thursday to Saturday evenings, with coffee and espresso drinks available until close.
